A Deep Connection
Herno maintains a genuine connection with the local area and, over the years, has shown increasing concern for the protection of the natural environment surrounding Lake Maggiore.
This commitment is demonstrated by investments in photovoltaic systems that help make the buildings energy self-sufficient while reducing the annual consumption of natural resources; the acquisition of latest-generation, low-consumption machinery; a focus on the environmental impact of its structures, which are integrated into the surrounding greenery both for aesthetic reasons and to improve their thermal insulation; the decision to produce and donate gowns and masks to hospitals in Piedmont during the pandemic; a commitment to ongoing investment in research and experimentation, reflecting a determination deeply rooted in the local area that led to the creation of Herno Globe, a label that identifies the brand’s projects dedicated to greater environmental responsibility. “I believe in continuous improvement, in constant change through investments in research and advanced technologies. The future is always ahead of us and requires attention.”
Claudio Marenzi, President of Herno
Herno allocates 8% of its turnover to machinery innovation and photovoltaic systems to make its Lesa headquarters and logistics branches completely energy self-sufficient.
The European Commission for the Environment publishes the PEF (Product Environmental Footprint) recommendation to measure the environmental impact of a product throughout its life cycle.
Herno launches a PEF study covering selected products from its collections, in collaboration with RadiciGroup and Eurojersey.
Together with other industry players, Herno presents a PEF study covering selected garments from its collections. The brand becomes one of the first European companies to obtain independent third-party verification of its PEF study, thanks to the mapping and tracking of the environmental impact of the garments being studied throughout their life cycle.
Herno headquarters, showrooms and flagship stores around the world become Plastic Free.
Expansion of the production facility with new industrial buildings camouflaged in the greenery Lake Maggiore's ecosystems to improve thermal insulation and reduce energy loss.
